Yes that’s me way off on the front of the stage. Growing up, I always loved performing and being in front of people. When deciding which career to pursue, I realized acting wasn’t a very reliable path, so I kept looking to see what else I could do. Fortunately, I had years of speaking and performing experience, and a few years ago, when I decided to open up my own business again, I knew which route I wanted to take. I knew I wanted to speak, consult, and train. It’s always surprising to people when I tell them I thrive better in front of groups than not—that I love speaking and that it makes me happier. It brings me more joy. It helps me feel more me, more confident, more relaxed, more fun, and more light-hearted. I share this because I want anyone out there who is considering which career path they should take to deeply consider what they love doing most in their lives and what they are good at. Then go research and study what careers utilize or center around those same passions or skills. You’ve been given gifts, talents, abilities, and you have developed passions for a reason. Be sure to use those to help yourself make a difference. Use those to earn a living. Use those to spend your time wisely. Use those to fulfill your purpose, whatever that may be.
