What’s white, fluffy & squishy like a pillow? #Baoger Had lunch at Ding Dong for Chef @millermai_ ‘s new sinful creation, The Baoger, where a seemingly innocent white fluffy bun sandwiches rich sinful Asian flavours. 🍔 ~ Sweet Lemongrass Pork Collar; coriander, pickled cucumber, ginger scallion. Glazed in Chef’s signature char siew sauce, this was a sweet mushy chunk of beef, topped w crunchy pickles for texture. 🍔~ Sambal Ayam Penyet; crispy chicken thigh, ulam rajah, tomato sambal. Always an option for the fried chicken lovers. 🍔~ Kam Heong Seafood; tiger prawns, barramundi belly, dried shrimps. This quickly became a crowd fave for its chunky bits of seafood drenched w a generous dollop of shrimp paste (DD’s housemade kam heong sauce). 🍔~ Beef Bergedil; wagyu beef, ketchup manis, atchara. Resembled a scotch egg where a chunky potato mash wraps ard the beef before being fried in a batter. The secret satisfaction though, lies in the pickled veggies under the top bun! 🥙~ Papaya salad; green papaya, pickled shallot rings, leek ash. 🥙~ Textures of corn; charred baby corn, sweet corn purée Mcm crispy corn kernel. 🥙~ Potato noisette; red chili, curry leaves, creamy butter. 🥙~ Sautéed shrooms; mushroom, roasted rice, mixed herbs. This reminded me of a wok-fried carrot cake in the form of mushrooms w sweet-ish charred bits in the mix - probably a healthier option w the same textures when there’s a need for comfort fix. 🍹~ Sundowner; (Topped w dehydrated lime.) mango infused rum, lime, Thai basil. One of their popular cocktails, this was light, refreshing, easy on the palette w a strong mango flavour. 🍹~ Chanm; (Topped w white sugar gems.) coconut rum, amaro, Montenegro, thai tea. Looked like a matcha latte but ain’t that ‘decent’ w it a milky based & coconut-infused rum, which seems to taste stronger at the end as the ‘sins’ sink deep.
