Sea turtles have lived on planet Earth for more than 100,000,000 (one hundred million) years. Over the past 100 years we humans have driven turtles to be “Critically Endangered” and because of us, they now face “extremely high risk of EXTINCTION.” ( #IUCN ) • My heart breaks every day. In addition to poaching turtle eggs, destroying nesting areas, catching turtles for meat, skin, and turtle soup, we humans are killing them simply for their shells... for jewelry. • This is one of a thousand examples of the destruction we humans are causing to animals, the ocean, wildlife, and planet Earth. This is not even to mention human-induced climate change which, ironically, will push our own species to the brink of extinction within a century or two. This may sound extreme, but it is true. • I am 35 years old and I can’t stand for it another day. I am going to commit the rest of my life to joining those that are taking action. We need a billion voices to rise up and demand a global coalition - including China, India, and Russia - to make massive, coordinated policy shifts to stop climate change and related global threats. Even our OWN species’ survival depends on it.
