**see our full @911_day photo album on our Facebook page @volunteernynow ** Preliminary results show that over 1,300 local volunteers (and still more to count) joined us in service in honor of those lost or who were impacted by Sept. 11, 2001. Why we volunteer on #911Day is rooted in the most heartfelt intentions to do right by those we lost. To create a legacy of positive impact in their honor that is passed from generation to generation until only hope and love remains. It may just be an hour of time, but in the grand scheme of things, each act of kindness moves us forward together. As you can see from this collection of photos from over 30 service projects supporting local nonprofits and causes, that everyone can serve, volunteering is transformational and relationships matter. Values and beliefs that we hold dear on #911Day and everyday at Volunteer New York!. Thank you to Westchester County, Robison Oil, Empire City Casino, WMC Health and 95.5 K-LOVE Radio for helping to make our 9th Annual 9/11 Day of Service one of our most successful community wide action days ever. Thank you to all volunteers for standing up for unity, peace and empathy.
