When I first started my blog, I was so adamant that I didn’t want my face attached to my work. I didn’t want my name attached to my work. I didn’t want to openly claim my stories and emotions. I didn’t want my work to be traced back to me. I considered going Banksy style and creating a new and anonymous identity, but the more I write, the more I am proud. The more I want to own my work. I’ve put my whole heart and soul into this blog, the pieces I’ve written and the poetry. That’s my work. I want my face and name to be clear in your mind as you read. Click the link in my bio to have a look at my updated site. I’m now my own cover image and my ‘About’ page, now features a photo of me. This is growth. Be deliberate and work with intent. Just like I am working to mean every word I say, I am working to own every piece I create. Simone Yasmin. Thank you @saleena_anya for taking these images and allowing me to add a visually personal touch to my words.
