A good buddy of mine once got arrested for ‘malicious mischief’ down in Lafayette County. I’m still not quite sure what that charge means exactly, but it’s a travesty that something like that can be used against you in the court of law. In my buddy’s sad and unfortunate case, it represented a long night perched up on the roof- sitting in a rusty foldable chair, an indecent blood-alcohol ratio, seeking solitude holding onto a big ole BB gun. As they say, a shoota’s gotta shoot. That night, there seemed to be a fair amount of happenin’s... was it all mischief? Probably not. There was an alibi, unclear modus operandi, thorough crime scene investigation and a botched (and unjust) arrest without proper advisory of one’s Miranda Rights. It’s no wonder he up-and-left, fleeing straight to the border, leaving the country and the bullshit charge behind. What did they expect when they charged a mediocre, law-abiding foreign national with “mischievous mischief”? It’s probably still an open case, but even more so, it’s a goddamn conspiracy. Let it be known that this is an ode to him, and after we pass the statute of limitations, I’ll flip the movie rights to a big name Hollywood production company... and finally let this injustice be known to the world.
