More of the #TaijiDolphinSeries from @koholakaicreative! "The bottlenose dolphin, or バンドウイルカ (bandou iruka ) in Japanese. ・ The bottlenose dolphin is one of the most well known cetaceans, famous for being "Flipper" (as seen in the television series- and 90’s reboot movie) and ranging in temperate and tropical waters all around the world. They are playful, inquisitive and can be very acrobatic out in the open ocean. 🌊 But sadly, they are 1 of the 9 species of dolphin subject to brutal live capture for the aquarium trade in what is known as dolphin drive hunts. ・ Bottlenose dolphins are in the highest demand of all dolphins by the captivity industry, due to their popularity and “ease” of trainability. Swipe ➡ to see what the process looks like for these dolphins to go from open ocean to tank from @dolphin_project. ・ Dolphins captured in these hunts are sold to marine parks around the world, where they live separated from their pod, in cramped pools, performing tricks for entertainment. As long as people continue to buy tickets to see dolphin shows, the demand for drive hunts continues. ・ See dolphins in the ocean, not in tanks! ・ Please help me spread the word about dolphin captivity and the drive hunt process. Be sure to follow @dolphin_project and if you haven’t already, watch 'The Cove!' ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ ・ #bottlenosedolphin #dolphin #dolphinproject #thanksbutnotanks #anticqptivity #taiji #thecove #seaworld #inkillustration #stippling #artistsofig #バンドウイル"カ"
