Before choosing leadership as a lifestyle, make sure you can put on the shoes. As “cool” as it may sound, it’s a huge responsibility, and not everyone can do it. You’re signing up for being a support system, a communicator, a motivator, an inspiration, a leader & a follower (at times). You’re also opening yourself to a lot of judgement and criticism. Be sure to know that’s it’s not a 9-5 job either. Being a leader doesn’t stop once the working day ends. Leadership is a lifestyle. If that doesn’t sound like your thing, step back now. Drop the ego and admit it, there’s no shame in that. If you really care about your people, you will realize that you are not the best leader for them and they deserve the best. On the otherhand, being able to be there for people, support them and help them unleash their full potential is such a beautiful thing. I don’t know about you, but it fills me with so much joy, and I cannot think of a more fulfilling way to live. Leadership is a way of life.
