Day 2 of #CouldBeAtExpo - I could have sworn we woke up in Hawaii. The saturated green hills, drizzling rain, and even a waterfall across the way from us was a beautiful start to the day. We all enjoyed a lazy morning hunkered down inside @ouroverlandlife #Flippac, complete with authentic cappuccinos and tasty avocado toast. . We said goodbye to one paradise and went chasing after another. Our goal was to reach a remote Fire Tower along the Hells Canyon ridgeline. On our way out, we stopped in the tiny town of Oxbow, #Oregon to mail off a few giveaway items. Wait, Oxbow on Expo weekend?! GET OUT OF HERE!! 🤣 (If you watched my story, we got a real good kick out of this!) . We made a quick stop at a local convenience store in hunt for patches, which ended with us helping the store owner move a fridge and we walked out of there with free beer and firewood as payment. No patches but that'll do. . The drive was a Pacific Northwest dream come true. I genuinely could not get enough of the mountain/cloud combo that haunted us all day. We hit impassable points in the trail twice - yes, I'm still without 4wd - and had to come back down. (Note to self, return in warmer months) . It was a long, wet day of travel. Arriving to camp with daylight quickly disappearing, we pitched the awning, got a fire going, had an amazing hot dinner by @lizzy_kates, and even had Dutch oven cookies for dessert. With soaking wet tents we knew it could be a pretty cold night ahead of us, so we bunkered down and silently hoped for a break in the weather the next day. . Stay tuned for Part 3!
