I had a date with the Queen of Datewas. Wish I could enjoy her hospitality at Datewas but no regrets.. I am enjoying her company in Chandigarh. Yes I am in Chandigarh with my daughter @mandirachhabra who is visiting Chandigarh Museum for academic reasons. Whoever knows me well, knows that I have this great love for Punjabiyat much before I met my Punjabi husband courtesy my childhood fascination with writers like Amrita Pritam, Rajinder Singh Bedi, Balwant Gargi & Shiv Kumar Batalvi. When I came across Amarjyot Chahal’s posts while she was still very new to IG, her Punjabiyat attracted me and I started reading each & every post of her.. one better than the other. Her posts were long like mine and they told the story of a determined girl with her exquisite juttis, specially Khussas and beautifully draped sarees. My afternoon was spent in the sprawling Chandigarh museum designed by Le-Corbusier. He designed this building as an extension of his already established aesthetic & functional philosophy. We were in the company of Gandhara Bodhisatvas & couldn’t resist getting our pictures clicked with them. I am nostalgic about this city as I had spent few memorable days in Chandigarh with Mrs Kuh a seventy year old art historian from USA who was curating the festival of India in 1979. I wish to revisit many places in Chandigarh specially Nek Chand’s Rock Garden & few Corbusier buildings before I take my flight back home today. Enjoy the pictures with queen of Datewas.. In my favourite lime green Khadi tussar “Ek Phulia” saree woven in Gopalpur. #irepeatmysarees so often because they are to be loved. #saree182/post 601/19th September 2019.
