Sandy Beach, Hudson 19.10.14 “Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again” (from my favourite poem, Wild Geese by Mary Oliver)!!!Please read until the end or skip until the end!!!!i spent this day off in a place that I’ve spent much of my childhood in: Sandy Beach. A place where we could run freely in the woods and be rewarded with the great waters at the end of the journey. I remember roaming around with my beloved dog, Buddy. He is now one with the wind of these grounds. These woods and water hold precious memories of my family and I. They tell the story of pure freedom and happiness. Today I got to hear the soothing tones of nature, the waves and creaks. !!!! Unfortunately this land that I love so dearly was stolen from the Anishinaabe, Kanesatake and Métis peoples. We are quick to forget whose land we stand on. So I am not celebrating Thanksgiving today but I am recognizing that this is stolen land and I hope we can give it back to Indigenous people some day. !!!!
