“Yoga, of course, actively undermines conventional patterns of existence, at least insofar as they prevent inner freedom, peace, and happiness. In that sense, it is a RADICAL teaching, which goes to the root (radix) of the problem: lethargy, fear of change, prejudice, self - delusion — all of which can be summarized as ignorance (avidya). The whole purpose of Yoga is to remove ignorance, which is in the way of enlightenment. Therefore Yoga speaks to every single unillumined person in the world.” — Georg Feuerstein __ Yoga is radical!! Let’s discuss at the next Book Club: The Deeper Dimensions of Yoga by Georg Feuerstein which is a week away. We will meet for 5 Fridays starting September 27th from 7-9pm. This brilliant book is a collection of essays which cover a wide landscape of yoga including the history, evolution, culture influences, schools of thought and existential challenges of the modern yoga practitioner and our need to take action for the sake of our planet. It is a fantastic book for both those well versed and new to the philosophy of yoga. Book Club is such a lovely experience of sharing perspectives and learning from one another. I’ve watched many friendships blossom from these meetings. __ We will be challenged to meet ourselves in hard places but it is up to us to do the work and awaken our consciousness to be of service to our planet and both our local and global communities. External action becomes much more effective when it arises from a place of clarity! __ No worries if you can’t make all 5 Fridays... you can join on the evenings that work for your schedule. But please do preregister so I can send you the reading assignments and the questions that will accompany. DM me with any questions.
