Alright, well, hmm, yep got it Social media is a platform for people sharing their “lives”, and we then follow people who interest us, and no not a fkn dating site, we follow people who have the same interests or people who inspire us. And as it goes we post ourselves living a lavish lifestyle, so then our viewers go wow look what they’re up to, I want to do that, I want to be them. This then turns into phrases such as “I should be doing that”, “why don’t I look like her”, “my life sucks compared to that” when really we post to please not to relate and be real. This stirs the pot just a tad, our lives are very individual and people don’t post their 9-5 job or them eating chicken and rice everyday, or studying for 6 hours on end, because that’s not lavish, or eye capturing, but swimming with turtles in Greece or lying on a yacht with a 6 pack is apparently. No one knows what goes on behind the scenes of genuine hard workers, who grind day in day out to get where they are. They show you the result not the journey, and I’ve noticed how many many people cannot relate to these “influencers” who complain about their free flight being delayed or their Gucci shoes being out of stock, because really who has that issue on a daily basis ? I appreciate those who share their journey, who are so extremely real with you and remind you that it is ok to have a bad day, it is ok to eat a piece of chocolate, it is ok to sleep and watch TV, and it is ok to feel a little lost. Our journeys are individual, you’re allowed to take inspiration and motivation from these people, but don’t take their life, work for yours and be real to yourself.
